DESCRIPTION:Join us for the family-friendly 21st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. We have a Dream Breakfast in partnership with the Diversity Council featuring a keynote presentation from Minnesota Gophers Linebackers Coach Mike Sherels.\n\n\n\nOnline Registration is now closed.\n\nThere will be limited availability for walk ups at the event.\n\n \n\nABOUT MIKE SHERELS \n\nMike Sherels\, a Rochester native\, is an assistant coach at his alma mater\, the University of Minnesota\, coaching linebackers. \n\n \n\nSherels played for the Gophers from 2003-07\, leading the team in tackles for the 2006 season. He is the only Minnesota walk-on ever to be named a two-time captain of the team. He was also honored with the Neil Fredenberg Award for Courage and Love of the Game\, the Carl Eller Award as the team's most outstanding defensive player and the Paul Giel Award for Unselfishness and Most Concern about the University of Minnesota.\n\n \n\nAfter graduating from John Marshall High School in 2003\, Sherels earned a degree in business and marketing education from Minnesota in 2007.  He then earned his Master's degree while working in various capacities for the team.\n\n\n\nSherels and his wife\, Emily\, have a daughter\, Valerie\, and a son\, Quinton. Valerie was born in Texas\, while the Gophers were in Houston for the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl.\n\n\n\nIn partnership with Rochester City Lines\, FREE transportation to and from this event is provided with pick up locations at Best Buy/Hobby Lobby and Mayo High School. Please indicate pick up location upon registration if desired. Both buses will depart at 7:30 am from the designated location.\n\n\n\nSpecial performances from Seeds of Wisdom Children's Choir and Rhythm Nation Performance Troupe.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLimited Scholarships are available for individuals and organizations who would like to attend this event.
