DESCRIPTION:Women in Leadership and Development presents Atypical Tea\, a four part learning series centralized on a theme. The 2017 year's theme is Courageous Maneuvers. Atypical Tea may be at high tea time\, but our tastings and desserts will vary. Space is limited to the first 40 registrants.\n\n\n\n*This event is now sold out! However\, is the bar for credibility higher for women? Does the need or method for building credibility change over the course of your career? Join us during this informative and interactive session to hear from a panel of three women at various stages of their careers. Tori Utley\, M.B.A\, 23-year-old entrepreneur working jointly in technology innovation and addiction recovery\,Tonya Burns\, M.B.A\, Senior Credit Analyst at Home Federal - Business Banking\, and Dr. Wendy Shannon\, Assistant Professor at Winona State University\, will speak about how they have built credibility\, as well as how they continue to sustain and grow their credibility to achieve personal goals. As a Mayo Clinic employee of five years\, she has worked in various roles from international relations to fundraising and product management. As a local entrepreneur\, Utley is the Cofounder and CEO of a technology startup company\, Tinua that is building a mobile app and technology infrastructure to allow unused gift card funds to be donated toward charity. In the nonprofit world\, she is the Founder and Executive Director of More Than An Addict\, an organization empowering individuals in recovery from addiction to pursue education\, employment and entrepreneurship. Additionally\, she is the Cofounder of Doc's Recovery Housing\, Inc.\, a former TEDx speaker\, and a regular contributor with Forbes\, writing on mental health\, millennial entrepreneurship and social impact. \n\n \n\nTonya Burns is a Senior Credit Analyst within the Business Banking division at Home Federal Savings Bank in Rochester Minnesota and currently manages a team of four analysts. Ms. Burns made Minnesota her home in 2011\, coming from the scenic and historic town of Decorah\, Iowa. Prior to joining Home Federal in 2011\, Ms. Burns was an Interim Grains Accountant for Absolute Energy. Ms. Burns earned a Bachelor of Arts in Financial Management and Accounting from Upper Iowa University and in May of 2016 received her Master of Business Administration with a Finance Specialization\, from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Since 2015\, she has been a member of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Leadership and Development (WILD) and a subcommittee member of Atypical Tea.\n\n\n\nDr. Wendy Shannon has been an assistant professor at Winona State University since August 2012. She is presently the Department Chair and the Director of the Graduate Induction Program. She is the former Superintendent of the Byron School District\, a positon she held from 1999 to 2012. Prior to 1999\, Dr. Shannon served as the Executive Director of the Zumbro Education District\; Management Development Specialist\, Minnesota Department of Transportation\; Facilitator for Minnesota Educational Effectiveness Program\, Director of the Principal Leadership Program\; and a secondary education teacher. Dr. Shannon is a member and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Rochester Area Foundation\, former member of the Board of Trustees of Olmsted Medical Center\, member and former Chair of the United Way of Olmsted County\, Chair of the Chancellors' Advisory and Advocacy Committee\, University of Minnesota\, Rochester and a member of the Board of Directors of the Poverello Foundation. She has served as an elected director of Home Federal Savings Bank since 2013. Dr. Shannon has over 40 years of extensive experience as a leader in nonprofit\, government and education settings in the Rochester area.
