SUMMARY:SAFE Career Fair and Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join us and volunteer at the SAFE Career Fair Thursday\, March 17 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Century High School. The objectives of this "Career Fair" is not to hire\, but rather for the students to learn leadership skills and about careers through Q&A about your training/education\, skills required in your job\, and your professional journey.\n\n\n\nThe SAFE (Student and Family Engagement) Program expands access to career and college opportunities for Century and Mayo High School students who will be the first in their family to attend college and for students underrepresented in post-secondary programs. \n\n\n\nFAQ:\n\nWhat's the format?\n\nVolunteers will be at a designated roundtable and have a personal face-to-face dialogue with small groups of students. Students will rotate through to various tables and have discussions with a wide variety of professionals. \n\n\n\nWhat do I need to prepare or bring with me?\n\nBring information about your business or service provided\; a 3 minute(ish) story about your professional journey to share with groups of students\; answers to questions asked by students about your education\, experience\, skills needed\, passion\, and purpose.\n\n \n\nAre there power sources for presentations?\n\nThere may be a few outlets\, but if you have a tablet or laptop to use that can hold a charge\, that would be best.\n\n \n\nWhat are the goals or outcomes of this event?\n\nMany students in the SAFE program have not had much experience or exposure to different career paths that are available to them post high school. Many students in this program are not traditional classroom learners and need smaller settings with the ability to interact with the information differently in order to understand. With that said\, the goals are:\n\n	Asking relevant questions about different careers\n	Understanding how the way the student's learning style is conducive with the training needed to succeed in certain careers\, and that there is a place where passion and purpose can meet in the professional world.\n	Greeting guests with a solid handshake\, eye contact\, smile\, and a confident introduction.
