This summit brings together business\, higher education\, local government and our community to motivate and prepare students for an increasingly competitive global marketplace.\n\n\n\nReal Impact:\n\nAs a direct result of of STEAM Summit\, our student surveys found of those who attended: 85% of the students had a positive\, fun experience\, 78% learned something that they could not have learned in the classroom and 57% identified a career or field that they'd like to pursue in the future.\n\n\n\nSTEAM Summit School Timeline\n\nTuesday\, November 16\, 9:00am to 2:15pm \n\n\n 8:50am | 1st Group Arrives\n\n \n *Send one teacher into the building to "check in" before allowing students off of the bus. \n \n \n 9:00am - 10:30am | 1st Group of Students\n 10:35am | 2nd Group Arrives\n \n *Send one teacher into the building to "check in" before allowing students off of the bus.\n \n \n 10:45am - 12:15pm | 2nd Group of Students\n 12:15pm - 12:30pm | LUNCH BREAK\n 12:20pm | 3rd Group Arrives\n \n *Send one teacher into the building to "check in" before letting students off of the bus.\n \n \n 12:30pm - 2:00pm | 3rd Group of Students\n\nStudent Responsibility\n\n\n Come ready to learn and engage with the exhibitors\n Ask questions about careers and the education needed for careers\n Dress appropriately for the weather\, there might be exhibits outside\n Make timely\, orderly transitions between zones\n\nTeacher Responsibility\n\n\n Schedule school busing (see more details below)\n Ensure their students know the purpose of the STEAM Summit and their responsibilities\n Ensure their students make timely\, orderly transitions between zones\n Teachers are encouraged to visit exhibits along with the students to help students engage\n Ensure the students have sufficient chaperones traveling with your group\n STEAM Summit staff and volunteers are not responsible for student behavior or engagement\, however\, volunteers in will be present to provide directions\, information\, etc. \n Designate a meeting location for your group to gather at the end of the event and communicate it to students (avoid the entrances to reduce congestion)\n\n\nFormat\n\nThere are a total of 6 zones your students will transition through. Your class will be given the order in which to visit the zones upon arrival.\n\n\n\nWhen it is time to move to a different group\, we will give a loud signal. Students\, chaperones\, and their teachers should quickly move to their next zone. Quick transitions are very important so the students can experience as much as possible in the allotted time. Students will likely not be able to visit each exhibit. Help them scan the opportunities and engage as they wish.
