Rental and Special Events Coordinator

The History Center of Olmsted County (HCOC) is a 54-acre site with gardens and historic buildings in Southwest Rochester, home of the Mayo Clinic. We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our team as a Rental and Special Events Coordinator. This individual will manage all aspects of renting our gardens, historic landscapes, pavilion, and other spaces, for family reunions, graduations, company picnics, and weddings. They will coordinate all HCOC events, including the Creepy Doll Contest and donor events at Mayowood, the historic home of Dr. Charlie Mayo, co-founder of the Mayo Clinic.

The successful candidate will work to develop, plan, and implement an exciting calendar of activities at HCOC by working with staff, board members and volunteers to generate earned income and community awareness through events.  The Rental and Special Events Coordinator will develop, sequence, and manage the pre-event timeline, coordinate the involvement of volunteers, and oversee event execution. Post-event, this individual will be responsible for evaluating the event quality and return on investment, where appropriate, and producing a financial analysis of the event. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the arts, marketing, hospitality, history, education, related liberal arts major and at least 1 year of related experience, or 3-5 years related experience.
  • Highly energetic and outgoing individual with excellent attention to detail and follow-through; ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, achieve goals, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and work within a budget.
  • Ability to positively engage and collaborate with diverse audiences.
  • Team player who is self-motivated and enthusiastic and willing to generate new ideas and strategies that help build compelling, profitable events and programs.
  • Creative thinker who brings new ideas and fresh perspectives and meets challenges with innovation and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Compensation: The Rental and Special Events Coordinator is a full-time position. Compensation is $42,630 with health, dental, and vision benefits. This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment.
