Individualized Home Supports and Respite Manager (IHSR Manager)

JOB OBJECTIVES: The IHSR Program Manager has a very rewarding career in assisting individuals with disabilities to self-direct their care, gain as much independence as possible, adapt to living with their disability, and integrate into the community in which they reside. This program is designed for individuals who live in their own home, in a shared living situation, or with family. The Manager provides oversight for employees, which includes family members and friends, who are hired by the individual with disabilities to assist in their day-to-day needs. This is an established program serving southeastern Minnesota.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred, or a combination of education and field experience deemed appropriate for this position
  • Five years of experience in management and supervision, preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated passion and desire to advocate for people with disabilities
  • Effective public speaking, written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office, spreadsheets, and word processing systems
  • Extensive knowledge of the person-centered planning process and the ability to effectively implement the process for the benefit of each program participant
  • Must have a positive, pleasant attitude and demeanor. Sense of humor, welcomed.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Department of Human Services Background Study
  • Valid driver’s license, successful completion of a driving record check, and proof of automobile insurance
  • Ability to safeguard confidentiality and to serve as a mentor in a culture designed to support all employees
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination required*

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Most important, the Manager has the ability to embrace, create, innovate, change, and develop a program that incorporates best practices and groundbreaking ideas.

  • Develops and implements Person-Centered and HCBS services as selected by program participants
  • Acts as a liaison to program participants, their support systems, employers, and agencies to maintain desired program services and needed support services
  • Facilitates the development of each person's coordinated services and supports plan and Person-Centered Services, and designs the program's service plan in cooperation with the program participant, his/her personal advocate, or others selected by the program participant to be involved in the process
  • Responsible for staff hiring and firing, as well as staff disciplinary action, in conjunction with HR
  • Responsible for providing staff with orientation and ongoing training by developing and conducting in-services for staff and sending staff to applicable workshops and conferences
  • Responsible for daily supervision of all program staff which includes conducting regular job performance appraisals.
  • Be compassionate, patient, and encouraging support professional at all times.
  • Participates in developing and managing the program's budget.
  • Ensures that program services meet or exceed licensing and HCBS requirements, including but not limited to an adequate response to health and safety needs and assuring that services are delivered and needs reassessed at prescribed intervals.
  • Monitors program policies and procedures established in accordance with PossAbilities policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all documentation is carried out in a timely fashion and that reports and other documentation are maintained appropriately and in accordance with PossAbilities standards and with licensing and/or with requirements of monitoring agencies.
  • The initiative, leadership skills, enthusiasm, and an ability to inspire the best efforts of others through encouragement, support, and effective training.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Occasionally subject to individuals that struggle with emotional regulation
  • Potential exposure to pets or unsanitary living conditions when meeting in a family home

WORKING HOURS: Standard hours are 40 Hours per week, though the Manager has flexibility to adjust hours, accordingly, to fit the needs of persons being served
