Commercial Producer

This position has responsibility for conceptualizing, writing and producing digital and video ads for clients purchasing marketing solutions from the station, often with a tight turnaround time and limited budgets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with Account Executives and clients to independently complete all aspects of commercial production from conception to completion generated by the sales department and approved through Management in a timely and creative manner.
  • Specific areas of responsibilities are creative development, writing scripts or editing provided scripts to correctly fit the length of the commercial (5/15/30 seconds typically), coordinating shoots and capturing the necessary video footage, editing video, creating graphics, recording voice-overs, dubbing, assisting with client studio sessions and engineering spots. Commercials that will develop the best message and branding campaign for the Clients' needs.
  • Participates in creative meetings with clients and Account Executives.
  • Submit the commercial for approval. Make the changes per client notes and make them ready for air. Attempts to solve issues and create solutions on own but involves management as needed. Ensure that the spot is broadcast compliant, has correct coding, and is delivered correctly to Master Control. From time to time, helps with the production needs of other departments within the company.
  • Manage the workflow of projects and address all challenges to keep projects moving ahead to completion while meeting all assigned deadlines.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with others. Build effective working relationships with co-workers in the same and different departments, customers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Participates and creates station promotions as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience in Production, Communications, Marketing or Broadcast-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a production environment.
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro 7, Premiere Pro, After Affects, and Photoshop experience, as well as videography experience.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills are required.
  • Ability to share specific job-related knowledge in a way that is understandable to others.
  • Experience working in both ENG or Documentary (Run and Gun) Production as well as Cinematic (Staged) Production highly desired.
  • Basic knowledge of three-point lighting techniques and experience setting up lights and stands on location. Knowledge of lighting for green screen and how to shoot subjects on a green screen to ensure proper keying.
  • Must have experience shooting with professional video cameras, such as the Panasonic AF-100 and Panasonic HPX300 Broadcast Cameras and Electrosonic wireless audio gear.
  • Must be skilled at capturing quality audio and video and have a working knowledge of audio editing software.
  • Must be highly creative.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet short deadlines.
  • Ability to create and lead a project from start to finish without direct supervision. While work hours are generally stable, must be willing to be flexible with schedule to accommodate client production needs.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving history required as determined by the Company.
