Women's Roundtable
Featured Speaker: Cheryl Thode, SCORE Volunteer
"How to Start A Business"
The path to business ownership is an exciting journey. Sometimes it's straight and simple; other times, it takes you on a long and winding road. Anyone who starts or manages a small business desires to be successful. Numerous factors contribute to business success: planning, hard work, quality products, and services, to name a few. SCORE volunteers provide free business mentoring, educational workshops, and resources to encourage business success.
Cheryl Thode, a SCORE volunteer since 2014, will be discussing how to start a business. She will share the SCORE Startup Roadmap, sponsored by FedEx. We'll look at where to begin your journey (you may not have to do every chapter or do it in order) and provide actionable steps to help you be successful.
Paige Jehnke, Owner of Janky Gear, will discuss her process working with SCORE
Paige Jehnke owns “Janky Gear”, a new outdoor gear consignment shop in Rochester. Paige ventured around the US, chasing fun outdoor jobs across the country. She then graduated from Great Lakes Maritime Academy with a degree in Marine Technology and Business Administration. She then began a maritime career as a 2nd Engineer on a ship, which took her around the world. This career supported her lifestyle of travel and outdoor adventure. But soon Covid hit and brought a new thought process. Jehnke gave her notice to the Captain and headed home to Minnesota, where she decided to stay put near family and friends, and opened Janky Gear in September of 2021.
Paige encourages others to get outside, practice reuse culture, and stay janky.
