Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, ethnic studies, social sciences, human resources, or related field and three (3) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.
OR
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, ethnic studies, social sciences, human resources, or related field and one (1) year of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.
OR
A combination of education and experience equivalent to seven (7) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Nature of Work

Under general supervision, strengthens relationships between the county, its employees, and the broader community. Develops initiatives and partnerships to support trust, belonging, and equitable access to county resources. Conducts research and analysis on county programs to identify gaps and barriers. Collaborates across departments to engage with community partners. Consults with leadership on change management and accountability to address barriers and ensure success. Creates and implements initiatives for Olmsted County’s employee belonging program. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

Examples of Work

 

  • Researches and analyzes data from Olmsted County programs to identify gaps and barriers. Prepares narratives and reports to highlight potential inequities and recommend solutions.
  • Plans, coordinates, and reports progress on activities and measures of success related to community and organizational engagement and equity. 
  • Develops and implements effective community outreach strategies. Coordinates and attends community engagement events for inclusion initiatives.
  • Develops relationships and partnerships with diverse populations and community groups.
  • Leads and participates in department, county, and community events and meetings to support continuous learning and inclusion.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to develop and maintain employee training focused on enhancing organizational equity and professional development opportunities.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to county policies.
  • Performs other duties as required.
